GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 
Under the Supervision of the High School Band Director, the Fall Percussion Director is responsible for the planning and instruction of the school's percussion students during the fall marching band season (July to November). The instructor prepares appropriate music and rehearses the ensemble for events. 
QUALIFICATIONS





  • High School Diploma
  • Strong background in marching band, and percussion performance.
  • Drum corps or university marching band experience preferred.
  • Experience in the various subgroups of the percussion section (e.g. snare, bass, tenors, mallets, etc.)
  • Previous experience with instructing/teaching percussion.
  • Experience working with high school-aged students.
  • Ability to inspire students, building enthusiasm and love of the subject
  • Ability to tune/replace drum heads and do minor repairs on drumline equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, administrators, and community members. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and exercise good judgment in making decisions.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to interact with students of different ages and skill levels positively and professionally.
  • Be responsible for the selection, training, and performances at designated events.

1.  Coaches ToolChest will certify you in all needed areas including Fundamentals of Coaching, mental health, First Aid for Coaches, Concussion Training, PBIS, CPR Training, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training.
2.  Apply for or submit a Pupil Activity Permit - through the Ohio Department of Education.  
3.  Complete a background check -  at the Xenia Board of Education fee of $52.00(cash, debit/credit card).  Please call 937-562-9037 - to schedule an appointment.
