Position Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role ensures compliance with infection prevention standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFU), and all applicable regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Operate sterilization equipment and related machinery accurately and safely.
  • Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and supplies according to manufacturer IFU, current standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Select appropriate cleaning agents and instrument lubricants.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, and integrity.
  • Assemble instrument trays accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
  • Support operating room readiness through proper instrument preparation and availability.
QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of sterile processing principles and practices.
  • Experience working in a surgical or operating room environment.
Preferred
  • Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST or equivalent).
  • One year of sterile processing experience in a surgery center, ambulatory surgery center, or hospital setting.
