Job description

We are looking for motivated, energetic, and goal-oriented individuals to join our team in the field. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, work well within a team environment, and place a high emphasis on safety. This position is seasonal and should run through October, possibly longer, and could lead to permanent employment.


Multiple positions available.


Description


An Industrial Painter/ Blaster is responsible for carrying out the preparation, blasting, coating, and painting of the tanks and tank components, structural steel, pipeline repair work and new fabrication at the direction of the Project Foreman, according to project guidelines and paint manufacturer specifications and perform other duties as assigned. Position is locally based in Nikiski/Kenai; however, there is a potential for north slope projects which could require employee to be gone for roughly two weeks sporadically during the summer. No per diem. Schedule could be 5-7 days a week, 8-12 hours a day.


Qualifications


  • Demonstrate daily adherence to safe work practices and participate in safety meetings
  • Possess a strong drive to learn and commitment to quality work
  • Positive attitude and dedication to team success
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with supervisory and teammates


Experience


  • Full knowledge of the various coatings used in industrial environments
  • Understand how to use and maintain conventional, airless and plural component sprayer systems, compressed air systems, ventilation equipment, and personal protective equipment
  • Experience with industrial sandblasting
  • Previous experience as an Industrial Painter/Blaster (highly preferred)
  • Operating heavy equipment such as loaders, forklifts, and man-lifts (preferred)
  • Oilfield experience (preferred)


Certification Requirements


  • Valid Driver License
  • *State of AK- Hazardous Painter Handler Card
  • *Current (not expired) TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Card)
  • *8 Hour Confined Space Entry Training
  • *Current Health and Safety Card:
      • CITS (Cook Inlet Training Standards) Certificate or,
      • CSTOP obtained within last two years or,
      • NSTC (North Slope Training Certificate) obtained within last year or,
      • OSHA 10hr obtained within last year
  • *24 Hour Initial Hazwoper Training (may have 8-hour refresher if 24-hour has already been obtained)
  • NACE/AMPP CIP 1 or 2 (preferred but not required); additional pay adder for this certification is offered
  • CPR and First Aid Certification - (preferred)
  • Must be able to pass pre-hire drug and alcohol test
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check if hired: NO felonies within the past 7 years; and/or no more than 2 non-violent, or one or more violent misdemeanors in past 7 years (violent crimes, property offense, substance abuse and fraud, terrorism, weapons or explosives or other crimes applicable to hazmat drivers and transportation workers at ports)

*If certifications/training that are a prerequisite to employment are not current, or the employee does not possess required certifications/training, the employee will be financially responsible for paying for and obtaining them as a condition of employment and must be completed prior to starting if hired.
