Overview

Department: Intensive Care Unit

Shift’s Available:   Nights

Employment Type: Per Diem (PD/PRN)

Hours: 7:00PM - 7:00AM

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, AL

We are seeking an ICU Registered Nurse , also referred to as an ICU RN, Intensive Care Nurse or Intensive Care Unit RN. The Intensive Care RN (ICU RN) will be responsible for providing intensive care to patients with life-threatening conditions. The ICU RN will have advanced skills in critical care settings, make quick decision s , and will be compassionate to all patient s . An ICU RN monitors vital signs, blood oxygen levels, administer IV Fluids, and communicates effectively to the medical team to modify care plans accordingly. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed .

** If you have experience in the ICU, Emergency Room (ER), Emergency Department (ED) or other critical care area of the hospital you are encouraged to apply ! **

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients by performing detailed assessments, developing care plans, and implementing complex nursing interventions

  • U se advanced equipment like cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and capnography devices to continuously track vital signs and physiological parameters

  • S afely administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products with precise dosing and timing, closely monitoring patient responses to ensure effectiveness and prevent adverse reactions

  • M anag e life-support devices such as ventilators, dialysis machines, and cardiac monitors

  • Provide emotional support and education to patients' families, acting as a liaison to ensure they understand the care being provided

  • D ocument all aspects of patient care to ensure continuity and compliance while rigorously maintaining infection control and safety protocols to protect vulnerable patients

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • Current and valid state RN License.

  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.

  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.

  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

  • Minimum of one year as a Registered Nurse is required.

    Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

  • Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.

  • Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.

  • Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
