Job description

Department: Operating Room - Periop 101

Daily Work Times: 7:00am-3:15pm

Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours: 80

Relocation reimbursement

Onsite Daycare

Uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. Assesses, monitors, detects, plans and takes appropriate action to prevent potential physiological complications and promotes optimal level of health. Accountable for integrating care within scope of practice licensure, relevant education and experience. Reports to shift Team Leader and is accountable to the Department Manager. Utilizes Policies and Procedures to guide job duties. Level specific criteria are evaluated annually and can be found in the MNM Clinical Ladder. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clinical Expertise: Collaborates with other members of the health care team to develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized written plan of care based upon a physiological, psychosocial, spiritual assessment consistent with patient/significant other's changing needs & goals, utilizing the Clinical Practice Model (CPM) and the "Caring-Quality Model." 
  • Knowledge: Seeks life-long learning through certification, advanced practice, higher education, and literature review. 
  • Leadership/Credibility: Demonstrates leadership through sharing of knowledge, being a clinical resource, and professional role model. 
  • Communication: Demonstrates effective communication through collegial relationships, SBAR, and interdisciplinary communication. 
  • Productivity: Demonstrates enhanced time management skills and ability to assist others in order to contribute to overall performance of the team. 
  • Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed by general and unit-specific competency-based objectives. 
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • License to practice nursing in the State of Michigan. 
  • Competent within 6 months of hire with all age groups within defined patient population. Demonstrates sensitivity when interacting with diverse ethnic groups. 
  • BLS certified 
 
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
  • Bachelor's in Nursing preferred.
