Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communications Operator covers the switchboard on three different 8 hour shifts (AM, PM and NOC), covering the switchboard 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position facilitates the communication of emergency situations with an overhead page, radio communication or electronic page. The Communication Operator is also the hospital's first contact with the community and must provide accurate, courteous and prompt responses.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • High School education or equivalent.

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of and compliance with Marshall Medical Center's Policies and Procedures.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to emergency situations.
Skills:
  • Must be able to master the use of the PBX switchboard, juggle several callers at once and respond to calls accurately, quickly and politely.
  • The job requires long periods of time sitting with repetitious functions.
  • Possesses basic computer skills including Word and Excel.
