What is a per diem judge?

Per Diem Judges are temporary or substitute judges who serve on a day-to-day basis, filling in when full-time judges are unavailable due to illness, vacation, conflicts of interest, or caseload overflow. They are often retired judges or experienced attorneys appointed to ensure the court's operations continue smoothly. Per Diem Judges can handle a variety of cases, and their assignments depend on the needs of the court. Their role helps maintain the efficiency and timeliness of judicial proceedings.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a per diem judge?

To thrive as a Per Diem Judge, you need a strong legal background, typically a law degree, significant experience practicing law, and admission to the state bar.
