A Per Diem Infusion RN is a registered nurse who specializes in administering intravenous (IV) therapies and medications, such as antibiotics, chemotherapy, or hydration fluids, on an as-needed, flexible, or part-time basis. 'Per diem' means 'per day,' indicating that these nurses do not have a set full-time schedule and may fill in shifts based on facility needs. They often work in hospitals, outpatient clinics, or patients’ homes, providing expert infusion care while enjoying flexible work arrangements. This role requires strong IV skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Per Diem Infusion RN?

To thrive as a Per Diem Infusion RN, you need a current RN license, strong IV insertion and infusion therapy skills, and experience with patient assessment in various clinical settings. Familiarity with infusion pumps, electronic health records (EHRs), and up-to-date certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is typically required.
