Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Sitka, Alaska.

This position is ideal for an RN with strong IV therapy and infusion nursing skills who is comfortable providing outpatient or hospital-based infusion treatments, monitoring patients during therapy, and responding appropriately to changes in patient condition.

Candidates must hold an active Alaska RN license and current BLS and ACLS certifications. Previous infusion nursing experience is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide direct nursing care to patients receiving infusion therapy.

· Perform pre-treatment patient assessments.

· Review medication orders, allergies, laboratory results, and treatment parameters before infusion.

· Establish and maintain peripheral IV access.

· Access and manage central venous access devices when applicable.

· Administer prescribed IV medications, fluids, and infusion therapies.

· Monitor patients throughout treatment for adverse reactions or changes in clinical condition.

· Recognize infusion-related complications and initiate appropriate interventions.

· Respond promptly to allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, or other clinical emergencies.

· Monitor vital signs and patient response before, during, and after treatment.

· Provide patient and family education regarding medications, treatment expectations, possible side effects, and follow-up care.

· Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

· Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using Meditech.

· Follow medication-safety, infection-control, and patient-safety standards.

· Maintain appropriate clinical competencies required by the facility.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

· Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska

· Current BLS certification

· Current ACLS certification

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Strong clinical assessment skills

· Experience administering IV medications and therapies

· Ability to recognize and respond to adverse infusion reactions

· Strong communication and documentation skills

· Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team

Experience

· Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience preferred

· Previous Infusion Nursing experience strongly preferred

· Prior experience in a related specialty is highly desirable

Key Clinical Skills

Clinical Competency Requirements

Candidates must be able to meet facility clinical competency requirements.

Clinical competency is expected to be completed within the required onboarding period and maintained according to facility policy.

Schedule Requirements

Typical schedule is Monday through Thursday.

Possible shift structures include:

· 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM without a scheduled lunch break

or

· 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch break

The exact schedule will depend on department needs and should be confirmed before assignment.

Additional Requirements

· Influenza vaccination is required unless an approved exemption is permitted under facility policy.

· All required licenses and certifications must remain current throughout the assignment.
