Job description

Connecticut Orthopaedic Surgery Center (COSC) is seeking to fill a Per Diem OR Registered Nurse position on our team.
About Us:
COSC is an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) that performs minimally invasive muscular-skeletal surgical procedures for patients.
Our Center was formed in 2018 and opened for first cases in October 2019. It represents a unique venture, bringing together, as co-owners, one of the largest orthopedic groups in Connecticut, other long-established community providers, a major hospital system, and the leading ASC management company in the state.
COSC is designed to be a place where patients choose to come, doctors want to operate, and employees want to work. Key features include:
  • Same-day total joint replacements, interventional procedures, and a full range of orthopedic surgeries.
  • COSC has four (4) operating rooms/an integrated procedure room within the OR.
  • The Center utilizes the most advanced sterilization equipment and technology in the marketplace, allowing our center to keep infection rates near zero
This is a Monday – Friday position with NO Weekends or company observed Holidays. Position schedule can vary (5x8hr or 4x10hr).
Position Summary:
The Operating Room RN provides expert professional nursing care for the patient during the OR course. The RN demonstrates a leadership role with continued competence in assessment, treatment and caring for patients. The RN is dedicated to providing safe, quality care in a compassionate and efficient manner.
Position Requirements:
  • Unencumbered active CT RN License
  • Minimum of 2 years OR experience; ambulatory surgery center experience preferred, orthopedic preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certifications required
  • Able to communicate effectively, and have an ability to work compatibly with all physicians and staff
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
  • Possess strong organizational skills, and a clear understanding of the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery center
  • Knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties of an OR Circulator RN
  • A strong knowledge of aseptic technique, anesthetic agents and complications, and the ability to handle emergency situations
  • Must have an aptitude for understanding, use of, and troubleshooting machines and equipment.
  • Experience with Orthopedic procedures (specifically total joints) a plus
  • Ability to scrub cases a plus
