It's important to communicate your availability clearly and build strong relationships with staffing coordinators to maximize your opportunities for regular shifts.

What is a Per Diem Emergency RN?

A Per Diem Emergency RN is a registered nurse who works in the emergency department on an as-needed basis, rather than having a set schedule or full-time hours. These nurses fill in shifts when there is a shortage of regular staff or increased patient volume, providing critical care to patients in emergency situations. Per diem positions offer flexibility and higher hourly pay, but typically do not include benefits such as health insurance or paid time off. This role requires adaptability, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work in high-pressure environments.
