As a Per Diem Pharmacist, you will be responsible for maintaining productivity and quality standards, as well as legal and company compliance, as you assist in the preparation of prescriptions in a variety of settings.

Job Specifics and Requirements:

Area: Sacramento, CA

Licensure Requirements: Must have open, active, and in good standing CA State Pharmacist License

Education: Pharm. D.

Pay: $70.00

Background/ Drug Requirements: Ability to successfully complete background check, health and drug screen

Per Diem Pharmacist

Job Responsibilities in Retail Chain, Independents, Independent Compounding, Community Outpatient and Long Term Care settings:

  • Assists the Pharmacy in filling prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Receiving new written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate
  • Verifying physicians' orders in the computerized med. order system or calling Physician offices to clarify/modify medication or therapies as needed based on patient's medical history.
  • Establishing or maintaining patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients
  • Ability to perform drug calculations and interpret prescriptions.
  • Maintaining proper storage and security conditions for drugs
  • Answering telephones, responding to questions or requests by patient and Pharmacy Technicians
  • Dispense narcotic medications and maintaining logs
  • Clinical review of patient profiles prior to medication going out
  • Pre-packing bulk medicines, filling bottles with prescribed medications, and typing and affixing labels
  • Last check pharmacist โ€“ reviewing and checking pharmacy technician's work based on Physician written or faxed prescription and Medication Therapy Management
  • Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.
  • Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory
  • Establishing or maintaining patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients
  • Mixing pharmaceutical preparations, according to written prescriptions
  • Verifying prescriptions and counseling
  • Receiving and storing incoming supplies, verifying quantities against invoices, checking for outdated medications in current inventory, and informing supervisors of stock needs and shortages
  • Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction
  • Communicates with all customers in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
  • Assists with special projects as needed
  • Supports location, departmental goals, and the overall objectives of the Company
  • Complies with all laws, regulations and standards of ethical conduct
