Job Summary:

College Coastal Care is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation in accordance with County protocols and College Coastal Care, LLC standards for pre-hospital care, utilizing receiving hospitals when necessary. The EMT will also be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and ensuring the readiness of all equipment and vehicles used in service.

We offer both 12-hour and 24-hour per diem shifts, with overtime available.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Current State of California EMT-1A Certification

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • California Driver’s License and California Ambulance Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record required

  • CPR and CPI Certification

  • Current Medical Examiner’s Report and Certificate

Job-Specific Duties:

  • Respond to requests for emergency/non-emergency medical care promptly with accurate route selection and safe driving techniques

  • Recognize and treat any medical situation using appropriate techniques, equipment, and knowledge of State and County protocols

  • Prepare and submit pre-hospital patient care reports, supply inventory forms, and other required documentation according to College Coastal Care, LLC standards

  • Gather patient billing information and obtain appropriate billing signatures

  • Ensure emergency vehicles are fully stocked and in good working order

  • Maintain open communication with EMS agencies, contract facilities, and members of the public

  • Respond to hazardous material situations and perform as directed by the HazMat or incident leader

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available at College Medical Center, including shift differentials and other special pay practices. The posted compensation for this position is a reasonable estimate and reflects the lowest to highest pay that College Medical Center, in good faith, believes it may pay for this position based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
