In this unique role, you'll collaborate closely with clinicians, law enforcement, fire, and EMS professionals to deliver a seamless continuum of care. Whether you're performing emergency medical procedures, assisting with crisis de-escalation, or conducting welfare checks, your presence will bring stability and support to those who need it most. Starting Pay: New hires start within our entry-to-market range, depending on experience and qualifications. The starting range for the position is $25.49 - $28.01/hour and will increase each year for longevity and cost of living adjustments. Full Pay Range: Each position also has a full wage range that reflects potential growth over time, including annual increases for longevity and cost-of-living

The full range for the position is $25.49 - $29.69/hour. Essential Functions Perform a variety of emergency medical services, including patient assessment, CPR/AED, emergency first aid, immobilizing and intubate patients, intravenous feeds, administer heart medications, attach heart monitors, etc. Communicate with various co-response agencies and stakeholders, including law enforcement, fire, EMS, etc., to maintain continuum of care for those with mental illness

Provide support to the clinician with crisis de-escalation, including maintaining situational awareness to ensure safety of the team, dispatch other responders, and assist with de-escalation, when appropriate. Assist with preventing crisis through welfare checks and public services. Provide support with educating various agencies on behavioral health crisis response.

Perform preventive vehicle maintenance; cleans vans and office/living quarters. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and other emergency medical assistance techniques, and procedures. Knowledge of emergency medical equipment and supplies.

Skill in understanding and following oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures, without immediate supervision. Skill in safely operating various tools, equipment, and computer systems related to emergency services, with the ability to learn job specific applications, databases, and equipment. Skill in negotiating and communicating, in person and writing, with the proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals.

Skill in professionally and sensitively serving distressed citizens. Ability to safely operate emergency vehicles on roadways with high traffic and other dangerous conditions. Ability to problem-solve and resolve conflicts with facilitating outcomes while maintaining a calm demeanor.

Ability to maintain and exhibit integrity and discretion in handling the confidential and sensitive information of medical records. Ability to learn street names and locations throughout the Missoula community, and surrounding areas. Ability to learn departmental and City of Missoula policies, practices, and procedures, including Mobile Support Team and Partnership Health Center.

Working Conditions: Position requires the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. or less. Duties involve significant contact with people in emergency situations, which require situational awareness to ensure safety.

Work environment may involve occasional exposure to unavoidable seasonal weather, uneven and steep terrain, occupational hazards, biohazards, and physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Position requires holdovers when on shift or engaged in a call. Qualifications and Additional Application Materials Must possess current national registration card for EMT-Basic certification.

Must have a valid Montana driver's license with a verified acceptable driving record, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Must complete Academy for Crisis Intervention Team and Mental Health First Aid within one (1) year and the written/practical de-escalation and crisis response tests by end of probationary period. The City of Missoula does not sponsor employment visas (e.g., F-1, H-1B, TM)
