Job description

Beloit Health System has an opening for a Per Diem - Clinical Dietitian opening at Beloit Memorial Hospital in our Nutritional Support Services Department.

In this position the Per Diem - Clinical Dietitian is responsible for providing general and specialized nutrition care for all patients both on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
In this position the Clinical Dietitian will:
  • Assess the nutrition status of patients with appropriate recommendations and implementation of plan for Medical Nutrition Therapy.
  • Complete nutrition assessment for patients at nutrition risk as identified by the Nutrition Screening Protocol and recommends a plan of care based on the patient's individualized nutrition requirements.
  • Assess all patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition and makes the appropriate recommendations to meet the patient's estimated nutrition needs.
  • Document appropriate nutrition information in the computerized medical record.
  • Respond to consults or referrals from physicians or other healthcare professionals regarding patient's nutrition concerns.
  • Communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals concerning the patient's nutrition status and tolerance to medical nutrition therapy.
  • Provide Inpatient and Outpatient nutrition counseling to patients, family members and/or significant caregivers.
  • Provide educational in-service to the dietary staff and other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Revise and modify patient menus to comply with the current standards of care and in accordance with the approved diet manual.
  • Participate in the coordination and continuation of performance improvement activities.
  • Assist with weekend coverage and on-call service.
  • Participate in daily discharge planning rounds with interdisciplinary team.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics
  • Credentialed as an RD/RDN by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Certified in the state of Wisconsin by Dietitians Affiliate Credentialing Board (within 6 months of hire).
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary principles and familiarity with medical terminology common to nutrition.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to participate in a weekend and holiday rotation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Possess the training, knowledge and skills necessary to perform one or more of the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and/or patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
