Job description

Position Summary:

As an Engineering Technician at Pentagon, you will be responsible for daily engineering assistance to our production teams. You will build & update engineering part records, disposition discrepant materials, maintain and control metrology tools, and process equipment to deliver parts and kits to customers in a safe manner with desired quality. 

Level & Compensation:
We are open to considering candidates at either the Engineering Technician I or Engineering Technician II level. The level and corresponding compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience, technical qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Includes but is not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned:  

  •   Assign and monitor processes to parts meeting safety requirements & efficiency 
  •   Verify/check processes for compliance 
  •   Disposition non-conforming materials 
  •   Perform technical training of production staff 
  •   Generate prints for inspection and coatings 
  •   Assist in maintenance and repairs of production equipment 
  •   Develop and maintain documentation and records 

Your Experiences, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Engineering Technician I: High School Diploma or GED required with minimum 0-2 years of engineering tech experience.
  • Engineering Technician II: High School Diploma with a minimum of 2 years in parts cleaning (or 5 years of relevant non-cleaning experience) OR an associate’s degree with 1 year of internal or 3 years of external relevant experience.
  • Print reading and developing 
  • Proficient in MS office, shop floor control software 
  • 40 hours of HAZWOPR training a plus 
  • Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control.  
  • Must possess the abilities to multitask and work well under pressure 
  • Must possess strong reading, communication, and comprehension abilities. Must be able to read, comprehend, and generate internal documents such as work order travelers, SOPs, inventory records, HAZMAT regulations, state and local regulations, and maintain internal logs and general company records in a clear concise manner. Brainstorming and bringing new ideas to the table are an essential part of the job. 
  • Excellent analytical and advanced mathematical skills are an essential element of this position. Candidate must possess excellent spreadsheet and database management skills, along with good general computer and statistical reasoning abilities. 

Work Environment:  

Must be able to function well in an office environment. Must also be able to work in a controlled chemical and wastewater environment. Must also be able to perform in a laboratory environment. Persons sensitive to chemical environments with such medical conditions as asthma, allergies, or extreme sensitivity to chemicals may not be considered good candidates for this position. 

Physical Demands:  

Must pass company required screening tests.  Must be able to pass respirator health and fit testing. Must be in reasonably fit condition to climb tank ladders and ladders to lower level sump area in waste treatment areas. Employees are regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and perform light lifting duties (up to 40 pounds).
