Job description

Senior Army Vantage Developer / Technical Lead

Location: Arlington, VA / Pentagon Work Arrangement: Hybrid – onsite at the Pentagon three days per week Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Army Vantage Developer to serve as one of the technical leads supporting an Army program at the Pentagon.

This is a hands-on application-development and technical-leadership position focused on delivering scalable, mission-driven solutions within the Army Vantage and Palantir Foundry ecosystem. The selected candidate will work directly with Army stakeholders to translate operational requirements into production data applications, analytics workflows, interactive dashboards, and decision-support tools.

The ideal candidate combines deep Army Vantage and Palantir Foundry experience with strong application-development, Python, data-engineering, and visualization skills. This individual must be comfortable remaining hands-on while also providing architecture guidance, mentoring developers, leading technical discussions, and helping identify new platform use cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain production applications within Army Vantage and Palantir Foundry.

  • Build user-facing applications, operational dashboards, workflows, and decision-support tools using Palantir Workshop.

  • Design and maintain Ontology objects, relationships, actions, permissions, and business logic.

  • Develop scalable data pipelines and transformation workflows using Foundry Code Repositories, Pipeline Builder, Python, PySpark, SQL, and related tools.

  • Integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple Army systems into reusable data products.

  • Build custom front-end components and advanced data visualizations using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, D3.js, Plotly, Recharts, or similar technologies.

  • Connect user-facing applications to Foundry datasets, Ontology objects, APIs, and operational workflows.

  • Support AI/ML, generative AI, RAG, and agentic-workflow capabilities within Army Vantage, Palantir Foundry, or related environments.

  • Implement data-quality controls, lineage, validation, monitoring, health checks, and production-support processes.

  • Configure and maintain role-based access, row-level security, markings, permissions, and need-to-know controls for sensitive Army data.

  • Provide technical architecture guidance, code reviews, development standards, and mentoring to other engineers.

  • Collaborate directly with Army stakeholders, product owners, data owners, and senior leadership to define requirements and recommend technical solutions.

  • Present application demonstrations, architecture recommendations, technical tradeoffs, and delivery updates to government customers.

  • Support Agile development, Git-based version control, automated testing, CI/CD, release management, and enterprise software-development practices.

  • Identify additional Army mission use cases and opportunities to expand platform adoption and customer value.

Required Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret clearance.

  • Ability to work onsite at the Pentagon three days per week.

  • Must be able to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

  • Approximately 10 or more years of software, application, data, or front-end development experience.

  • Direct, hands-on experience developing solutions within Army Vantage.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry application development.

  • Production experience with Palantir Workshop and user-facing application delivery.

  • Experience with Foundry Ontology, including objects, relationships, actions, permissions, and operational workflows.

  • Experience developing and maintaining pipelines through Foundry Code Repositories, Pipeline Builder, or comparable Foundry tools.

  • Strong Python development skills for data manipulation, transformation, analytics, automation, or application logic.

  • Experience with SQL and large-scale data-processing workflows.

  • Experience building interactive dashboards, analytics applications, or advanced visualizations.

  • Experience delivering enterprise applications through the full software-development lifecycle.

  • Experience working with Git, Agile delivery, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate directly with technical and nontechnical government stakeholders.

  • Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring developers, reviewing code, or guiding application architecture.

Front-End and Visualization Qualifications

Candidates should have experience with several of the following:

  • React.js

  • JavaScript or TypeScript

  • HTML5 and CSS

  • D3.js

  • Plotly

  • Recharts

  • Custom Palantir or Foundry components

  • OSDK

  • Slate

  • Foundry APIs

  • Embedded analytics or custom visualization frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Army logistics, readiness, maintenance, personnel, financial-management, supply-chain, or operational analytics missions.

  • Experience delivering applications within classified Army or DoD environments.

  • Experience with Palantir AIP and AI-enabled Foundry applications.

  • Experience integrating large language models, RAG, agentic workflows, or AI-powered decision-support capabilities.

  • Experience with OpenAI, Claude, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or comparable AI frameworks.

  • Experience with R, Shiny, pandas, NumPy, PySpark, or similar data-science technologies.

  • Experience with Storybook or reusable front-end component libraries.

  • Experience creating custom Workshop functionality, Ontology-driven actions, writeback workflows, approvals, or task-management capabilities.

  • Experience presenting technical solutions to Army senior leaders or Pentagon stakeholders.

  • Experience identifying new mission use cases, expanding platform adoption, or supporting program growth.

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will be able to independently take an Army mission requirement from initial stakeholder discussion through architecture, data integration, application development, testing, deployment, and production support.

This person should be equally comfortable discussing mission requirements with Army leadership, reviewing a Python transformation in a Foundry Code Repository, designing an Ontology model, and building or guiding the development of a user-facing Workshop or React application.
