COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT: This position is not in a collective bargaining unit.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of Financial and Operations Systems (OFOS), Office of Pay and Retirement Services (OPRS), Retirement Unit. The incumbent serves as a senior level technical expert responsible for administering complex pension benefits under the Federal Police Pension Plan. The incumbent performs advanced pension calculations, annuity adjustments, and insurance-related actions. Duties include, but are not limited to: training benefit specialists; resolving escalated or unusual cases; overseeing monthly pension payroll processing; explaining benefit rules, processes, and decisions; participating in audit processes; handling complex Federal Employees' Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) cases for retirees and re-employed annuitants; administering the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHB) transactions for retirees and re-employed annuitants; conducting research, preparing reports, and developing recommendations to improve pension operations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Four (4) years of progressive experience performing duties related to assessing, reviewing or analyzing data related to pension benefits, calculating service computation data to determine retirement estimates, and corresponding with plan participants to answer retirement benefit questions. Demonstrated working knowledge of FEGLI AND FEHB policies, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. In addition, one (1) year of experience providing guidance, training or overseeing the work of lower-level staff.
Specialized Experience
Experience that provides the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this position.

SALARY REDUCTION OF REEMPLOYED ANNUITANTS: An individual selected for employment in the District Government on or after January 1, 1980, who is receiving an annuity under any District government civilian retirement system, shall have his or her pay reduced by the amount of annuity allocable to the period of employment as a reemployed annuitant.
