THE POSITION

As a Clerical Assistant 3 with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), you will become part of a busy unit that keeps driver licensing records accurate and up to date. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides customer service and clerical support for a range of driver licensing cases, including suspensions and record reviews. The primary focus of this role is to ensure that customers receive accurate information and that driver records are properly updated. As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will perform the following duties:
  • Customer Assistance: Respond to phone calls and provide clear information about suspensions, Problem Driver Pointer System (PDPS) issues, Commercial Driver License Information System (CDLIS) matters, and commercial licensing requirements
  • Record Explanation: Review and explain sanctioned driver records so customers understand requirements for restoring or maintaining driving privileges
  • Case Verification: Analyze documents submitted by customers and complete follow-up research with agencies to confirm accuracy
  • Data Processing: Enter information into PennDOT systems to update driver records and process forms and documents
  • Document Production: Prepare and send official documents or license products based on reviews of customer records and agency contacts
  • Report Review: Examine daily and weekly reports related to CDLIS and PDPS and take needed actions to update driver records

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
