Position Description
Penhall Company is currently recruiting for a Mechanic to join our team at our Aiea, Oahu location. We are looking for someone with experience working with a wide range of construction equipment and vehicles. In this position you will perform the day-to-day maintenance and repair on heavy industrial construction equipment. Service truck will be provided. Must be willing and able to travel throughout the islands (including outer islands) for necessary repairs when needed. This is a full time position with competitive pay and benefits.
Specific Role Responsibilities:
  • Inspects equipment to locate and determine the extent of repairs and the corrective action necessary.
  • Utilizes computerized diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and identify malfunctions.
  • Maintains and repairs engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components with diesel and gasoline engines and similar equipment.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance servicing, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and safety inspections.
  • Maintain effective equipment maintenance schedules and records on all company equipment and tools.
  • Identify and work with outside specialty shops (machine, hydraulic, electrical, etc.) to perform special or time effective work when needed.
  • Act as technical expert and advise personnel when to take equipment out of service due to issues and problems.
  • Monitor equipment and tool warranty programs to insure warranty claims are forwarded to Shop Manager and Asset Manager for processing.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested and/or necessary as directed by supervisors.
  • Maintain a safe working environment. Provide high quality control standards while maintaining high levels of equipment readiness.

Position Requirements
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
  • Must meet minimum age requirement (21) and possess an acceptable motor vehicle record to be covered under company's insurance policy.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a drug screen and background check to include a motor vehicle record check after accepting offer.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience working with heavy industrial construction equipment. Familiarity with grinding and grooving concrete construction equipment a plus. Technical training in equipment repair and operation or equivalent combination of technical training and experience will be considered.
  • Previous experience working with diesel engines, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repair.
  • Diamond blade equipment service and repair a plus.
  • Knowledge in basic to advanced welding techniques (MIG, TIG, ARC) highly desired but not required.
  • Ability to work both days / nights, weekends as needed with advance notice; will adjust schedule to accommodate evenings and weekend work
  • Strong sense of urgency with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Able to perform basic physical tasks-walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic computer skills working with MS Office (Excel, Word) and email a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic to intermediate math skills.
