Common examples include peer support specialists in mental health, peer mentors in educational settings, and peer advisors in workplaces. These roles rely on shared understanding and lived experience to help others navigate challenges, build skills, and foster community. Peer jobs are valued for their ability to create trust and relatability, often filling gaps that traditional support roles may not address.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Peer Support Specialist?

To thrive as a Peer Support Specialist, you typically need lived experience with recovery from mental health or substance use challenges, along with a high school diploma and completion of a peer support training program.
