West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pathology, Anatomy & Laboratory Medicine (PALM) seek a Pediatric Pathologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank to lead our pediatric pathology services at the WVU Medicine Golisano Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV
Duties: The successful candidate will practice as a Pediatric Pathologist within a subspecialty-based system. Responsibilities include all facets of pediatric and perinatal pathology, such as signing out pediatric surgical specimens and perinatal autopsies. This is a unique leadership opportunity to act as a key liaison to a broad and growing team of pediatricians, pediatric surgeons, and other related subspecialists. You will play a vital role in shaping the pathology support for one of the region's premier children's hospitals. Willingness to participate in other clinical subspecialty or administrative areas of expertise/interest would be considered favorably. There is tremendous potential for candidates to collaborate on research and scholarly activities with faculty across WVU departments. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidates must have completed an AP or AP/CP residency, as well as a Pediatric Pathology fellowship, and must be board certified / eligible in Pediatric Pathology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
About the Department: WVU PALM is a diverse and expanding team of over 40 faculty specializing in all areas of anatomic and clinical pathology as well as laboratory medicine and anatomical sciences. Clinical services are supported by advanced Digital Pathology and Telepathology systems, and state-of-the-art ancillary testing (IHC, cytogenetics, FISH, NGS) is performed onsite. Faculty research activities are supported by the PALM Tissue Bank, Research Histology Lab, Brain Bank and the Rapid Development Laboratory. The Department serves West Virginia University Hospitals, the premier regional referral center for West Virginia and parts of Pennsylvania and Maryland. The institution offers a collaborative professional environment, advanced technology, and highly regarded clinical programs.
About WVU Medicine Golisano Children's Hospital: Located adjacent to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, WVU Golisano Children's houses a pathology laboratory, pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, and GI-endoscopy suites. The hospital also includes a Pediatric Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Imaging Department, Heart Center, Blood Disorder and Cancer Center, Birthing Center and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. WVU Medicine Golisano Children's is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, ECMO program, level IV NICU and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
