Pay Range: $35.00-$49.00 per hour
Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM

Setting: Pediatric Ambulatory Surgery Center
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Pediatric PreOp Registered Nurse to join a specialized outpatient surgery center in Richmond, Texas. The RN will provide comprehensive preoperative care to pediatric patients, ensuring they are safely prepared for surgery while supporting and educating their families throughout the process.
This position works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments, including medical history, physical condition, airway status, surgical site, cognitive ability, and pain or comfort needs.
Prepare pediatric patients for surgery and administer prescribed preoperative medications and IV fluids.
Initiate IV access and perform venipuncture or blood draws as needed.
Verify informed consent, surgical-site preparation, and completion of required safety protocols.
Clearly explain procedures and preoperative expectations to patients and their family members.
Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other members of the perioperative team.
Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately to potential complications.
Ensure required supplies, medications, and equipment are available and ready for use.
Maintain complete and accurate nursing documentation.
Operate designated clinical equipment in accordance with facility policies.
Support ongoing quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Active and unrestricted Texas Registered Nurse license.
Current BLS certification.
Current ACLS certification.
Current PALS certification.
Previous ambulatory surgery center experience.
At least one year of pediatric nursing experience.
Strong assessment, communication, and patient-education skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing.
Additional pediatric perioperative or ambulatory surgery experience.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is comfortable caring for pediatric surgical patients, communicating with concerned family members, initiating IVs, and working collaboratively in a fast-paced outpatient surgical environment. The RN should be attentive, dependable, and committed to delivering safe and compassionate care.
