Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist
Golisano Children's Hospital (GCH) at the University of Rochester Medical Center invites applications for a full-time Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care faculty position within the Division of Pediatric Critical Care in the Department of Pediatrics. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
About Golisano Children's Hospital
Golisano Children's Hospital is the dedicated children's hospital within the University of Rochester Medical Center and operates under the license of Strong Memorial Hospital, the region's adult academic hospital and designated Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and regional burn center. This close integration allows GCH to leverage the full resources of a major academic medical center while maintaining a child- and family-centered care environment.
Golisano Children's Hospital is consistently ranked among the nation's best children's hospitals by U.S. News & World Report across multiple specialties, including neonatology, neurology, neurosurgery, hematology/oncology, nephrology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and orthopedics.
The current eight-story, 148-bed hospital, which opened in 2015, provides comprehensive pediatric care across more than 40 specialty areas, serving over 85,000 children and families annually across Western and Central New York. Plans are currently underway for a major expansion, adding two additional floors to the children's tower.
The Department of Pediatrics ranks consistently among the top 20 pediatric departments nationally in NIH-funded research and is home to strong basic science, translational, and clinical research programs, along with a longstanding commitment to excellence in education and community advocacy.
Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Program
Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care attendings are members of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care and work closely within the URMC Congenital Heart Program Service Line. The Pediatric Cardiac Care Center (PCCC) at URMC is a 16-bed acuity-adaptable cardiac ICU staffed with:
• 24/7 in-house attending physician coverage
• Dedicated advanced practice providers
• Specialized pediatric cardiac nursing staff
The PCCC provides comprehensive care for patients undergoing cardiac surgery and interventional cardiac procedures. The program includes an active ECMO program and supports GCH's regional pediatric cardiac surgery program serving Western and Central New York.
Faculty in this role will contribute to:
• Clinical care of critically ill pediatric cardiac patients
• Teaching of pediatric residents, fellows, and medical students
• Quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Multidisciplinary collaboration across cardiology, cardiac surgery, and critical care teams
• Academic scholarship aligned with institutional priorities
Qualifications
Candidates must possess:

• MD, DO, or international medical degree equivalent such as MBBS/MBChB/MBBCh
• Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology preferred
• Advanced fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care
• Candidates with board certification or eligibility in either Pediatric Critical Care or Pediatric Cardiology will be considered if they have additional advanced training or extensive experience in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care.

Additional requirements include:

• Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Commitment to medical education, quality improvement, and academic scholarship
• Eligibility for New York State medical licensure and DEA certification prior to credentialing

Special skills required: Procedural competencies consistent with the practice of a pediatric cardiac intensivist.

The referenced pay range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
