Job description


Job Overview

This position serves as the shipping aspect of the company. The prospective employee will perform the duties necessary to prepare orders for shipment.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Selecting, stacking, checking, loading, and shipping food service and food related products.
  • Use of scanners when selecting products.
  • Selection of products in freezer and cooler.
  • Double check product pulled by pickers using pick sheets.
  • Replace incorrect product as needed.
  • Correct any incorrect stacks according to pulling/stacking protocols and procedures.
  • Wrap each pallet according to company pallet wrapping protocols/procedures.
  • Communicate with pullers and loaders as needed.
  • Double check pallets to make sure it is stacked and wrapped properly.
  • Replace incorrect or damaged product as needed.
  • Load pallets onto trucks according to Peck truck loading protocols and procedures.
  • Unload and clean trucks according to Peck protocols and procedures.
  • Report any damage or unclean trucks or equipment to manager(s) or shift leads.
  • Communicate with quality control checkers as needed.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. on a consistent basis.
  • Must be able to operate or be willing to learn how to operate power hand trucks (pallet jacks), forklifts, and product scanning equipment.
  • The ability to drive 28 ft straight trucks or tractor trailers a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to work well with others.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and a legal resident of the United States.
  • Must be able to work overtime if needed.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical.
  • Must be able to work in extreme conditions (i.e. extreme cold (freezer) and extreme heat (warehouse conditions in summer).
  • Must be able to maintain mandatory pulling/picking averages (i.e. 80 cases per hour in dry and 110 cases per hour in frozen).
  • Must be able to read, write, and have good communication skills.
  • Must be able to pay attention to detail and have good decision-making abilities.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma required or equivalent (GED)
  • 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software (Preferred but not required).

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Pallet Jack and Forklift Certification (Preferred but not required. Will train upon hire).

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use his/her hands to handle product or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet, hot, extreme cold and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employer mandated safety precautions must be observed at all times.
