SCADA ENGINEER
Job Details

Job Description
Peak Rentals' SCADA Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of SCADA systems used to monitor and control oil and gas production, transportation, storage, and distribution facilities.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
  • Design, configure, and maintain the existing Ignition Perspective platform (PeakView), including HMIs, RTUs, PLCs, and communication networks.
  • Develop and modify SCADA graphics, alarms, trends, reports, and control logic to support operational requirements.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and communication issues to ensure high system availability and reliability.
  • Integrate field instrumentation, sensors, flow meters, analyzers, and control devices with SCADA platforms.
  • Support pipeline, wellhead, compressor station, tank farm, and processing facility automation projects.
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, and startup activities for new installations and upgrades.
  • Maintain SCADA databases, historian systems, and data interfaces with enterprise applications such as ERP, maintenance, and reporting systems.
  • Implement cybersecurity measures and ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze operational data to identify performance improvements, equipment issues, and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop technical documentation, system architecture diagrams, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, instrumentation, electrical, and IT teams to resolve system-related issues.
  • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Manage vendor relationships and support third-party system integrations.
  • Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and change management procedures are properly executed and documented.
  • Participate in preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system efficiency and operational safety.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • Strong knowledge of Ignition Perspective, PLC programming, industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC, Ethernet/IP), and networking.
  • Experience with oil and gas automation systems, telemetry, control systems, and field instrumentation.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, process control, and industrial safety standards.

Physical Demands and Exposures
  • This position works inside a climate-controlled environment, with frequent trips to locations in outside weather conditions. The Company will supply adequate training and equipment to perform the functions of the job.
  • Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm, Overtime when required.
  • Involves sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
  • Needs high degree of concentration in a busy area.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
