Patient Transporter

As a Patient Transporter, you'll play a vital role in delivering safe, compassionate care by helping patients move throughout the hospital with dignity and confidence. Every interaction is an opportunity to provide reassurance while supporting the clinical teams who depend on timely patient transport.

As a Patient Transporter, a typical day might include the following:

  • Assist patients in and out of beds with the support of a nurse or PCT.
  • Ensure patients are comfortable and safe during transit.
  • Transport patients to and from hospital units and Imaging Modalities within expected timeframes.
  • Maintain communication with the Transport Dispatcher and accurately update transport status using the automated system.
  • Assist with bed management by organizing beds, cleaning beds, and removing oxygen tanks once beds are no longer in use.
  • Follow established isolation protocols, including PPE and hand hygiene requirements.
  • Use two patient identifiers to correctly identify every patient.
  • Sign in and out of the logbook, print the ticket to ride, and notify nursing staff when patients arrive on the unit.

This role might be for you if:

  • You enjoy helping others and making people feel comfortable during stressful moments.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment where every task supports quality patient care.
  • You communicate clearly and work well with nurses, physicians, and fellow team members.
  • You are dependable, safety-focused, and take pride in doing things the right way.
  • You enjoy physically active work that keeps you engaged throughout your shift.

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must successfully complete site and department orientation and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

This per diem position requires flexibility in schedule and availability for the 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift, including rotating weekends and holidays. The ideal candidate is committed to patient safety, teamwork, and delivering exceptional service during every transport.
