Department: PCU | PCT
Unit has 36 beds.
Common diagnoses include post-ICU recovery, post-shock, post-stroke, pneumonia, congestive heart failure, post-cardiac arrest, respiratory failure for weaning or unweaning, pending tracheostomy placement, and more.
Typical staffing for PCTs is 5.
Job duties include taking vitals, A.M./P.M. care, restocking supplies, running errands, performing EKGs, monitoring outputs, bladder scanning, and blood glucose checks.
Tele-Monitor Technicians are on duty 24/7 in a centralized monitoring area.
Nurses must read and interpret telemetry and communicate changes with the physician for intervention.
Scheduling is done 4 weeks in advance.
There is a minimum weekend requirement of every other weekend.
Employees may be asked to participate in holiday rotation.
There is no call or standby requirement.
