Job description

The Direct Support Professional Caregiver plays a vital role in providing compassionate, hands-on support to individuals in a group home setting. We are a small private group home that has 7 consumers. You will assist a medium team of 4-7 clients by promoting their independence, safety, and well-being while working closely with the Group Home Manager to deliver personalized care. This role emphasizes ongoing professional growth through training and certification and fosters strong client relationships. We are looking for future teammates that works well with others, have great communication skills and that are dependable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and assist with daily living activities
  • Administer medication and support clients' health needs
  • Document records accurately and maintain confidentiality
  • Implement behavior support and safety monitoring
  • Assist with transportation and meal preparation
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members
  • Offer emotional support and encouragement to clients

Required Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in direct support or caregiving
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Training in PCMA Reactive Strategies (preferred but not required)
  • Completion of train.org trainings (preferred but not required)
  • Strong skills in patient care, communication, empathy, and teamwork
  • Time management, problem-solving, and record-keeping abilities
