Job Title:Director of Professional and Continuing EducationDepartment:Ohio State Online | Online Enrollment

Serving as a leader and expert for all professional and continuing education activities, the Director of Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) will lead and provide vision for all the work that advances PCE's goals, direct the development of the PCE team, develop and build new processes to grow the PCE business, and serve as a senior liaison between the college and university personnel for all PCE related activities.

The Director of PCE leads and directs the shape and function of a comprehensive multi-year institutional strategy for advancing PCE at The Ohio State University. Through serving and collaborating with academic units and external stakeholders (funders, business leaders, industry leaders, community leaders, government groups, non-profits, etc.) this role will nurture the growth of a robust and career-connected portfolio of courses and programs. While navigating new institutional and service-level complexities, this role will cultivate an entrepreneurial culture and offer depth of knowledge to lead the team in providing core PCE services: design and advancement, learner support services, portfolio strategy and development, and the learner registration system. Further, this role will develop and manage influential partnerships with institutional and industry leaders and represent Ohio State Online to internal and external constituencies.

This person will need to be entrepreneurial to help think outside of the box for what is possible to grow PCE at Ohio State. They will also have to be highly collaborative to get all the constituents at Ohio State working in continuing education aligned and working together in this space. The director will train and coach their team in how to develop new course proposals and execute internal and external course development. The director will also need to work with businesses to identify potential partnerships with an ability to sell them on partnering and then maintaining and further developing that relationship.


Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience. 10+ years of experience
  • Experience in one or several of these areas: higher education, strategic initiatives, organizational change, nontraditional learners, leading in the non-credit learning space.
  • Broad knowledge and expertise in being entrepreneurial and business development.

Desired

  • Master's degree in relevant discipline preferred. 12+ years of experience preferred.
