Job description

The Panther Group is seeking an experienced Electronic Assembler II to support a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer in Austin, TX. This role is ideal for candidates with advanced electronics assembly experience, including hand soldering, PCB rework, connector installation, and IPC Class 3 workmanship.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble, disassemble, modify, and repair electronic and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Perform precision hand soldering to IPC Class 3 standards.
  • Install connectors and apply epoxy/tack bond materials.
  • Perform PCB rework and component replacement.
  • Assemble production subassemblies using fixtures and manufacturing documentation.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
  • Inspect completed assemblies to verify quality and workmanship.
  • Utilize solder reflow ovens, selective solder equipment, wave solder equipment, and semi-automatic pick-and-place machines.
  • Support AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) and AXI (X-Ray Inspection) processes.
  • Maintain production quality while meeting manufacturing deadlines.
  • Work in a clean room environment while following ESD and quality procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or trade school education required.
  • Previous electronics assembly experience required.
  • Advanced hand soldering experience required.
  • Experience with PCB rework and repair.
  • Experience installing connectors and applying epoxy or tack bond materials.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong mechanical assembly skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • IPC Class 3 experience.
  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification.
  • Completion of J-STD Modules 1, 3, and 6 preferred.
  • Experience with:
    • Selective solder
    • Wave solder
    • AOI
    • AXI (X-Ray Inspection)
    • Semi-automatic pick-and-place equipment
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and manufacturing software.
Pay up to $29.70 per hour DOE
