Work EnvironmentPrimarily in healthcare settings, focusing on technology systems and supportDirect patient care in hospitals, clinics, or long-term care facilities
Employer & Industry UsageHospitals, healthcare tech companies, clinicsHospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities

While Pca Technology specialists focus on healthcare technology systems, Patient Care Assistants provide direct patient care. Both roles are essential in healthcare but differ in their focus, required credentials, and work environment.

What exactly does a Pca Technology do?

A PCA (Patient Care Assistant) in healthcare provides basic patient care under the supervision of medical staff, assisting with activities like bathing, dressing, and mobility. They often work in hospitals or nursing homes, requiring good communication skills and sometimes certification in CPR or first aid.

Is being a PCA Technology a stressful job?

PCA Technology roles typically involve technical support, troubleshooting, and system maintenance, which can be demanding depending on workload and deadlines. The job may require problem-solving skills and the ability to handle technical issues efficiently, but overall stress levels vary based on the work environment and individual experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PCA (Personal Care Assistant) in the technology field, and why are they important?

To thrive as a PCA (Personal Care Assistant) in the technology field, essential qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, basic healthcare knowledge, and familiarity with assistive technology devices. Competency in electronic health record (EHR) systems, patient monitoring apps, and commonly used mobility aids is typically required. Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills help PCAs effectively support clients and adapt to evolving technology needs. These abilities ensure safe, personalized care and enhance clients' independence and quality of life through the effective use of technology.

What is a PCA technology?

PCA Technology typically refers to 'Printed Circuit Assembly' Technology, which involves the assembly of electronic components onto a printed circuit board (PCB). This process is essential in the manufacturing of electronic devices, ensuring that circuits function as intended. PCA technology encompasses various methods like surface-mount and through-hole assembly, and can include automated or manual production steps. Professionals working in PCA technology roles are often responsible for quality control, troubleshooting, and optimizing assembly processes. This field is crucial in industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, and telecommunications.

Who We Are:
Fox Thermal and Sierra Instruments are leading manufacturers of high-performance thermal mass flow sensors, with decades of experience advancing flow measurement technology. Together, they design and deliver solutions for a wide range of gas applications across industrial and process industries where accuracy and reliability are critical.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salaries
  • 10 paid holidays each year, vacation, sick time and volunteer time
  • 401(k) with employer match - immediately vested
  • HSA, pre-tax health savings program
  • Flexible work schedules that promote a healthy work-life balance
  • Top-tier medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Employer-paid life insurance
  • Pet Insurance
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Scholarship Programs

Responsibilities:
  • Balance both new product development and sustaining engineering priorities, supporting innovation while ensuring strong performance of released products.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and vendors) to define requirements, solve technical issues, release designs, and improve product reliability.
  • New product Development (Approx. 50%)
  • Participate in R&D efforts including feasibility studies, architecture decisions, design reviews, prototype builds, validation, and product release planning.
  • Translate product requirements into electrical system designs for instrumentation and flow measurement products.
  • Design across analog and digital circuitry, microcontrollers, communications interfaces, sensing, signal conditioning, and power systems.
  • Perform schematic capture and provide input for PCB/PCA design, including design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) considerations.
  • Develop and test breadboards, prototypes, and proof-of-concept circuits to validate designs and reduce technical risk.
  • Plan and execute electrical verification and validation testing, including hardware/firmware interaction, communications, and environmental performance.
  • Support regulatory and compliance efforts (EMC/CE, safety, certifications), including pre-compliance testing and design updates.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation such as BOMs, schematics, PCB files, drawings, test procedures, and design records.
