Job description

Medical Lab Technologist

The Medical Lab Technologists (MLT) will perform related duties in laboratory to include storing and labeling specimens and using manual and automatic equipment to prepare specimens and perform analytical tests. The MLT will prepare solutions, reagents and stains, following standard laboratory formulas and procedures. The MLT will calibrate and perform routine maintenance on testing equipment as well as process samples and create reports and will often communicate lab updates with nursing and physician staff. The MLT will be required to follow producers required by CAP for certification. The MLT must be willing to report back to work during any emergency situation, this includes if needed during inclement weather, mass casualty, internal disaster, etc. The MLT will complete other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma required Medical Lab Technician through one of two ways required: Associates of Science degree in Medical Technology or; Bachelors of Science (BS) degree with Board Certification as an MLT.

Experience: Experience with patient contact preferred. Previous experience with Laboratory/Hospital computer system preferred. Previous experience as a MLT in a hospital laboratory preferred.

Other: Flexibility with scheduled work hours required. Licensure/Certification/Registration: #ASCP or AMT certification required.

Special Skills: Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required. Knowledge of program development and administration preferred. Strong organizational skills. Strong PC skills required. Strong verbal communication skills required.
