Job description

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for performing a wide range of payroll duties, such as processing, reviewing, and editing payroll transactions and changes, as well as assisting in the resolution of employee inquiries and customer relations. All responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, practices, and procedures.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Run high volume on- and off-cycle payroll.

  • Review and escalate all errors in payroll batches to ensure all errors have been appropriately handled.

  • Ensure successful transmission of direct deposits by reconciling bank confirmations to payroll reports.

  • Responsible for the processing and submission of all monthly Union Benefits in a timely manner.

  • Serve as subject matter expert and trainer for time entry in the time and attendance module for all hourly employees, Managers and Timekeepers.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

  • Assist employees and business partners with inquiries, concerns, or requests regarding payroll.

  • Research and resolve payroll issues in a timely manner.

  • Prepare and process stop payments, void checks, direct deposit reversals and overpayment collections in accordance with company, federal, and state regulations.

  • Train and daily operational direction to payroll new and current hires on the procedures of the payroll department

  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned by Payroll Director.

  • Maintains payroll record retention for all edits and adjustments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position works directly with the Payroll team and has supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience running high volume on- and off-cycle payroll

  • Large platform payroll applications experience - Workday and UKG (Kronos)

  • Proficient in Excel, Word and other MS office applications

  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State regulations.

  • Strong knowledge of Union Benefits, IRS Tip Compliance and Garnishments.

  • Experience with the reconciliation and filing of all Payroll Taxes.

  • Able to adjust to new changes and ideas for better efficiency, productivity and compliance.

  • Have strong organizational skills & the ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Software

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)

  • At least 21 years of age.

PREFERRED

  • 3-5 years payroll experience in the gaming industry with Union reporting and Tip Compliance preferred.

  • Workday working knowledge preferred and Kronos software knowledge desirable.

  • Prior management experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work under time constraints and within established deadlines.

  • Must regularly lift and/move up to 10 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and exposed to various environmental factors such as but not limited to noise, dust and smoke.
