Their goal is to minimize errors, reduce risk, and deliver a seamless payment experience for customers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a payments ops professional?

Job description

Responsibilities

Role Summaryย

As a Senior Technical Product Manager,ย Enterpriseย Payments, you will lead the strategy, design, and delivery of HEBโ€™s core, enterprisefacing payments systems that power both instore and eCommerce experiences at scale. This role owns the foundational platforms and integrations behind the scenes:ย processors and acquirers, gateway architecture and failover, tokenization and data security, authorization performance, and longterm payments strategyย that enable HEB to reliably accept,ย optimize, and scale payments across channels.ย

While this role supports both online and instore payments, extensive inperson POS and terminal experience is critical. Success depends on understanding how enterprise payments infrastructure decisionsย manifestย across the firmโ€”across terminals, lanes, store operations, reliability, and incident responseโ€”while balancing cost, resilience, and flexibility.ย

Whatย Youโ€™llย Doย

  • Own HEBโ€™s core payments platform strategy, including processors, acquirers, gateway design, redundancy, and tokenizationย
  • Define and evolve longterm payments architecture to improve resilience, scalability, and flexibility while reducing singlevendor riskย
  • Deliver enterprisefacing payments capabilities across authorization, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, and reportingย
  • Partner closely with engineering to translate network, processor, and security requirements into scalable platform capabilitiesย
  • Optimizeย payment performance and economics, including approval rates, latency, routing strategies, and costtoacceptย
  • Act as the connective tissue across Payments Engineering, POS, Digital Product, Store Ops,ย Accounting, Security, and external vendorsย
  • Be able and willing to get into the weeds:ย writing requirements, prioritizing work, and unblocking complex crossfunctional initiativesย

Whatย Youโ€™llย Bringย

  • Preferredย 7+ย years of product management experience,ย ideally within payments, fintech,ย acquirersย orย have done payments atย largescale retailersย
  • Deep inperson POS experience; familiarity with cardpresent flows, EMV,ย etc.ย
  • Strong understanding of merchantย acquiring,ย processors, gateways, and endtoend card payment flows.ย
  • Comfortย operatingย within agile product practices adapted for enterprise platform work.ย
  • Proven ability to execute and influenceย withinย large, matrixed organizations.ย
  • Clear communicator who can translate technical tradeoffs into businesslevel decisions.ย
