Job description

1.      Process credit card transactions.

2.      Posts all responsible payments and adjustments to the specified patient account in accordance with the current policy and procedure.

3.      Ensures accuracy of posting by balancing deposit totals to system-generated reports.

4.      Properly close all assigned batches in a timely manner.

5.      Responsible for manual cash posting.

6.      Maintains daily logs and reconciliation.

7.      Works with supervision, management and the patient accounting staff to improve processes, increase accuracy, create efficiencies, and achieve the overall goals of the department.

8.      Respect and maintain confidentiality.

9.      Work in a safe, compliant, and ethical manner always.

10.  Performs other duties are requested or assigned.

Other Requirements:

 

1.      Adheres to Center’s policies and procedures.

2.      Wears identification while on duty.

3.      Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.

4.      Attends annual review and department in -services, as scheduled.

5.      Attends staff meetings and if unable to attend, reads and initials minutes and other documents applicable.

6.      Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement.

7.      (CQI) activities.

8.      Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the Center, as well as the focus statement of the department.

9.      Seeks educational opportunities and accepts responsibilities for own professional growth and development.

10.  Must maintain patient right to privacy by not discussing privileged information outside the work area or within hearing range of visitors, family, or patient.


Required Skills

1.      Strong analytical thinking skills are necessary.

2.      Knowledge of insurance principles.

3.      Thrives in a focused, number-oriented environment.

4.      Accuracy and high-quality work while managing a high volume.

5.      Ability to perform multi- step, detailed job tasks retaining the information and making decisions or choices using that information.

6.      Must have alpha/numeric entry, computer, and keyboard skills.

7.      Experience with EMR software is helpful but not required.

8.      Prior experience with EFT cash posting process.

9.      Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook required.

10.  Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

11.  Bilingual skills are a plus.

Required Experience

1.      High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

2.      Two years of patient account billing or payment posting experience preferred.
