Job Description:

Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) is hiring an Accounts Payable Accountant. The Accounts Payables Accountant will work in the Finance department and is responsible for processing vendor invoices, reconciling financial accounts, and executing timely payments to manage company expenses accurately according to the State of Georgia. The Accounts Payables Accountant will report to the Payables Manager. GPB is a statewide dual licensee comprised of 9 PBS television stations and 22 NPR radio stations that broadcast across the state of Georgia.

Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, matches, and process invoices, receiving reports, use slips, contracts, purchase orders, and recurring expenses daily into the Accounts Payable module.Prepares invoices for payment in accordance with State of Georgia policies and procedures.
  • Audits and reviews various vendors invoices, utility bills, travel reimbursement requests, contracts, and other requests for payments for accuracy, completeness, and proper general ledger coding.Works with budget to clear expenses and budget errors. Verify payment status of incoming invoices request before processing current invoices to prevent overpayment.
  • Audits and processes travel expenses for staff and consultants in Concur system. Assist employees with travel related questions Concur questions. Monthly provides pending AirPlus fees to department to import into Concur.
  • Processes purchasing card payment monthly coordinating with budget and purchasing as needed.
  • Assists with 1099 reporting for the IRS on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintains accounts payable files.
  • Responds to questions and requests for information related to accounts payable as needed via incoming calls, e-mails or in person.
  • Performs special projects, compilation of financial data and other finance duties as assigned.
  • Prepares reconciliations for all of AP chart of accounts and other accounting reporting.
  • Communicates with manager or appropriate staff of any issues or concerns in a timely manner.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Accounting/Finance, or related field required.
  • One year of work experience in accounting, finance, or a related field. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job will be considered.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the State of Georgia's TeamWorks and GA@WORK application. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 is required.
