Job description

  • Paving Estimator/Project Manager - ON SITE WITH PAVING EXPERIENCE

We are looking for a reliable and detailed Paving Estimator / Project Manager to join our team. You will be one of our estimators that meets with prospective or existing residential and/or commercial clients to view the project, come up with a satisfactory plan to complete the work needed, figure up the cost, build a proposal, present the proposal, and oversee projects you've won so the crew has everything they need to complete the job on time and within budget. Finding solutions to problems as they arise will be needed to minimize crew and project impact. Must have a valid driver's license.
Responsibilities:
  • Collecting all pertinent documents including property plans, technical drawings, and project specifications.
  • Studying documentation, meeting with clients, and inspecting the construction site to fully understand what work is required.
  • Deciding on the most appropriate human and material resources for each project.
  • Outlining the work plan to gauge how much time will be needed to complete each project.
  • Assessing risk to account for potential deviations from the project plan.
  • Accounting for the use of our resources, plus a reasonable profit margin to calculate an overarching price.
  • Drafting proposals that detail materials, costs, and time frames.
  • Meeting with clients to discuss their thoughts and concerns about our offers.
  • Managing and motivating site foremen and teams.
  • Ensuring all equipment needed is available on site.
  • Ensuring budget costs relating to wages, contractors, materials, and equipment aren’t exceeded.
  • Approving purchase requests.
  • Ensuring the construction process starts and ends on time, and ensuring daily and weekly deadlines are met.

Experience:
  • Qualification and/or degrees in construction project management is advantageous but not required.
  • Demonstrable experience as a construction estimator.
  • Knowledge of relevant technical and non-technical processes and documents.
  • Exceptional quantitative skills.
  • Outstanding research and proposal writing skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Dependable, conscientious, and well-spoken.
  • Experience with Outlook, Excel, and PlanSwift helpful but not required.
