Job description

Asphalt Paver Operator

Location: Four Corners Area
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $19.00/hour DOE
Travel: Willingness to travel required

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Asphalt Paver Operator to join our construction team in the Four Corners area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating asphalt paving equipment and other heavy machinery, along with a strong understanding of equipment maintenance, job-site safety, and quality paving practices.

This position will play an important role in completing road and infrastructure projects safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate asphalt paving machines, including screeds and related paving equipment, to place asphalt according to project specifications.
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on paving and construction equipment.
  • Monitor asphalt placement, grade, depth, and alignment to ensure quality results.
  • Assist with the preparation and handling of bituminous materials as needed.
  • Operate loaders and other equipment to support paving operations and material handling.
  • Assist with concrete forming, rebar installation, and other site preparation activities.
  • Operate additional heavy equipment, including excavators, dump trucks, loaders, and concrete mixers, as required.
  • Monitor job-site conditions and adjust equipment operation to maintain productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA/DOT requirements, and project-specific procedures.
  • Perform basic measurements and calculations related to grades, elevations, material quantities, and paving specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, equipment operators, laborers, and other crew members.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, maintenance, material usage, and project progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support successful project completion.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience operating asphalt paving equipment is required.
  • Experience operating screeds and other paving equipment is highly preferred.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, dump trucks, and concrete equipment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to identify and address basic equipment issues.
  • Knowledge of asphalt paving, concrete work, and civil construction practices.
  • Ability to read and understand project plans, specifications, grades, and elevations.
  • Basic math skills for measurements, quantities, and material calculations.
  • Understanding of DOT requirements and construction-site safety practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding duties as needed.
  • Valid CDL is preferred, but not required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required for projects
