Responsibilities

Trains as a Transporter/Escort for the first two weeks and will assume a Transporter/Escort role periodically to remain abreast of environmental and situational changes. Utilizes information received from Allied Health staff and other departments to ensure efficient operations as it relates to patient movement and logistics services. Respond to telephone requests and assigns staff to perform requests while monitoring activities. 
The Dispatcher assists all callers in a polite, articulate, professional, and clear manner.  Prioritize requests to ensure timely response based on departmental policies and procedures.  Utilizes problem solving skills and shows initiative to ensure that service goals are met.  The Dispatcher communicates daily to the manager and supervisor regarding employee day-to-day operational issues that may affect performance, work assignments, etc.  Inform management of activity level when additional support is needed and assists with resolution of those issues.  Evaluates quality and timeliness of work performed by staff with excellent time management skills, task prioritization, and an ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume work environment are required. 
Dispatch is responsible for collecting metrics, maintaining data and occasionally participating in the RHOCC (Rochester Hospital Operations Command Center). Dispatch will take sick/ill calls and update management accordingly.

High School diploma or equivalent is required.  A minimum of one year experience working as a patient transporter in a hospital and customer service setting is preferred.  Must have outstanding telephone and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work independently; display exceptional initiative; and demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.  Must have good knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office applications.  Epic experience preferred.  
Must be able to demonstrate a proven ability to quickly and accurately process and route incoming transport requests.  Must have excellent command of English language; and an exceptional ability to communicate quickly and effectively with others.  Must be able to adapt to unpredictable and stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and pleasant manner.  Must also be able to demonstrate an ability to quickly develop plans to accomplish unexpected and time sensitive requirements; and must display sound judgment when given conflicting information.  
This position involves excellent organization and data entry skills in addition to leadership abilities, which emphasize team building and facilitation in the achievement of goals.  Preferred demonstrated knowledge with Mayo facilities, policies, and operations, demonstrates skills in decision making, problem solving, communication, and ability to influence and motivate others.  Attends and partakes in classes, workshops, and other continuing education as appropriate to maintain and enhance leadership and management skills.
