Positional Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Patient Services Representative to support daily operations within a busy ophthalmology practice. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a key role in ensuring a smooth and professional patient experience from check-in through check-out.
Role & Responsibility:
Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success
- Greet and check in patients for scheduled appointments in a professional and courteous manner
- Verify insurance coverage, collect co-pays, and process payments accurately
- Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate patient visits based on provider availability
- Process referrals and ensure all required documentation is completed
- Check out patients and provide visit summaries or next steps as needed
- Enter and maintain accurate patient data in the system
- Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff to coordinate schedules and patient flow
- Assist healthcare providers with administrative support as needed
- Manage appointment scheduling by balancing daily capacity, staffing needs, and patient demand
- Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with healthcare procedures
Skills & Experience
Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 0–2 years of experience in a healthcare, medical office, or customer service setting preferred
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Experience with EPIC or similar electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong customer service and patient interaction skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy with data entry
- Basic knowledge of insurance verification and medical office procedures
- Proficiency in computer systems and scheduling software
- Strong organizational and time management skills
