Primary Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Salary Range: Min $20.73 Mid $25.40 Max $30.06

Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, current bargaining unit employees have priority consideration for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period, all applicants will be considered equally.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
A Patient Safety Assistant monitors assigned patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Patient Safety Assistant provides constant observation to patients who may be in danger of harming themselves or acting in an unsafe manner. Patient Safety Assistants offer hands on in the moment assistance to the patient and other staff members when needed. It is critical that Patient Safety Assistants provide timely and accurate communication, documentation and maintain a harmonious, team oriented, customer friendly environment. Patient Safety Assistants must be able to function competently in a computerized medical setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school graduate or equivalent work experience, including ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology required.
2. Previous experience in a medical/clinical setting is preferred.
3. Meets requirements of pre-employment screening and physical is required.
4. Successfully compete Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations (PMCS) training within the orientation/probation period is required.
5. Must demonstrate competency to perform CPR and Heimlich Manuever.
6. Must have the ability to use basic computer skills is required.
7. Ability to work independently, handle interruptions, take direction and prioritize.
8. Must work well as a team member
9. High level of sensitivity, interpersonal skills and effective verbal communication skills is required.
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of patients for which care is being provided.
This is a bargaining union position.
