Position Summary Under the supervision of the Director of Food Services, the Patient Care Host/Hostess provides personalized meal service to patients. This role helps enhance the patient experience through meal assistance, delivery, and support services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with menu selections based on prescribed diets
  • Ensure meal selections meet guidelines for modified diets
  • Communicate patient selections to food production staff
  • Prepare and deliver meals, snacks, and nutritional supplements
  • Monitor and record patient intake; communicate updates to care team members
  • Maintain accurate patient diet information using hospital systems
  • Assemble meal trays and serve meals in a timely, courteous manner
  • Collect used dishware and transport to dish room; assist with cleaning
  • Stock patient and staff pantries, ensuring proper labeling, dating, and rotation
  • Prepare simple cold items such as salads and sandwiches as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and staff
  • Report concerns or issues promptly to appropriate personnel
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support sanitation and cleanliness standards in the department
  • Assist with monitoring intake and completing calorie counts when assigned
  • Complete required documentation accurately and according to procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience
  • At least 6 months of experience using computers or electronic systems
