Job description

Position Objective:
Functions as the receptionist for the back desk, greeting patients and answering incoming calls. Checking in the patients and making sure appropriates forms are completed and signed by the patient.
Essential Job Duties:

  1. Answers Intake Calls, completing the encounter in EPIC to gather sufficient history of substance use and documents insurance details.
  2. Schedules appropriate appointments in a timely manner and refers caller to appropriate staff if needed.
  3. Interacts with clinical staff as needed. Attends and participates in staff meetings.
  4. Assembles new outpatient records with all contents needed.
  5. Provides support, maintains chain of custody and clearly and accurately labels outpatient urine specimens for drug Screens according to established policies and procedures. Collects payments and provides receipts for drug screen payments as needed.
  6. Completes patient registration in the electronic medical record. Provides information and support to Pathways staff on the registration system.
  7. Provides administrative assistance to the Outpatient Department, managing office functions to include supply inventory, billing and invoices.
  8. Analyzes, sorts, composes and maintains statistical information for preparation of all reports such as C PI/QI reports.
  9. Posts charges on a daily basis.
  10. Coverage for the financial counselor as needed. Provides front desk coverage as needed.

Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years in a clerical position requiring inventory and entry of patient/business chares.
  • 35 wpm and Numerical skills and previous computer experience is required.
  • Data entry and management of database software and exposure to medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • A focused individual with experience in attention to detail is required.
  • Previous job responsibilities that demand extensive public contact and innovative handling of difficult customer service request.

  • None

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:
There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will not be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
Physical Demands -
Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
