Job description

Start your career with one of the Pacific Northwest's largest independent clinical and anatomic laboratories. As a Laboratory Assistant, you'll gain hands-on experience, work alongside skilled professionals, and take your first step toward a rewarding, purpose-driven career in diagnostic services.
Pay: Starting at $20.90 (including night shift differential); commensurate with experience and education
Schedule: Full-time (nigh shift); Monday - Friday 10:30pm - 7am

What You'll Do
  • Support Lab Operations: Assist Medical Technologists (MTs) and Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) with a range of laboratory procedures.
  • Operate Equipment: Use automated instruments, electronic systems, and precision tools; provide basic troubleshooting as needed.
  • Ensure Quality: Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate documentation, answer phones professionally, and ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Safety First: Follow established safety and infection control protocols.
  • Adapt and Grow: Take on new duties as operational needs evolve and gain valuable experience for future advancement.
  • Reliability: Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance and a consistent work history.
  • Ability to reliably commute to the work location and work the assigned schedule.
  • Familiarity with patient confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines preferred.
  • Previous night-shift experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Mobility: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle lab instruments and computer systems.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision & Hearing: Ability to read and interpret data, identify specimens, and communicate clearly in person and by phone.
  • Flexibility: Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to access equipment or supplies.
  • Attention to Detail: Sustained concentration for accurate specimen handling and testing.

OSHA Category: This position involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. Employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
