Description

Las Vegas Foot and Ankle Centers is part of Balance Health, the nation's premier comprehensive lower-extremity focused Physician Practice with offices in Henderson, Nevada. Our team has an immediate need to hire a hard-working, experienced, energetic Medical Assistant for the back office (or Certified MA) who will partner with physicians and other members of the team on clinical and administrative duties. This person is responsible for creating a positive patient experience and ensuring smooth workflow within the practice. This role will work in both our Horizon Ridge and Eastern Ave. location as well as the Gibson Rd at Henderson Hospital, locations and is considered a full-time (40 hours/week), Medical Assistant float position.

Our practice helps patients stay active and mobile by providing the best clinical care available across our network locations. Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Performs routine clinical tasks to support the medical team.
  • Obtains and confirms prior authorizations are on record.
  • Prepares and thoroughly cleans exam rooms, properly sterilizing medical instruments to standards and sets up and prepares for minor/in-office surgical procedures.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms.
  • Efficiently manages patient flow in treatment rooms, assisting doctors as needed.
  • Manages patient concerns with care, kindness, and professionalism.
  • Effectively communicates with insurance companies to ensure proper billing procedures.
  • Accurately and timely documents patient medical history, including updating medication lists and scanning reports to patient charts.
  • Orders diabetic shoes.
  • Orders lab work and pathology.
  • Cross-trained to assist the front desk

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, push pull, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Required:

  • 1-2 years' experience as a Medical Assistant working in a professional medical office (podiatry practice highly preferred).
  • Minimum of high-school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with extreme patience and professionalism.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with constant changes throughout the day.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills including prioritizing daily tasks.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills to interact with patients, physicians, coworkers, and vendors in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Must be committed and reliable reporting to work on time as scheduled to ensure business needs are met.
  • Experience working in a team environment and understands the commitment to be collaborative.
  • Must be able to ensure accurate, timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Respectfully accepts coaching and guidance provided constructively to ensure continual improvement, career growth, and development.
  • PC Proficient with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation and be able to provide proof of insurance to ensure ability to travel as scheduled between two practice locations as scheduled or as needed to ensure proper coverage (up to a 10-mile radius with mileage reimbursement and travel time paid if required to go between offices on the same day).
  • Understands additional tasks may be assigned to meet business needs.
  • Ability to provide legal proof of eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to successfully pass an in-depth background investigation, including clean DMV report and pre-employment drug screen.

Desired:

  • Current CMA highly preferrable or ability to obtain
  • 1 year wound care experience
  • 1 year working in a podiatry office
  • Experience using ModMed
  • Familiarity with healthcare terminology is highly desirable
  • Spanish speaking a plus

Compensation / Benefits:

  • Full-time position working Monday - Friday with a competitive pay range of $18.00 to $23.00 per hour depending on relevant work experience and certifications.
  • Eligible to participate in company benefit program on the first of the month following 30-days of employment if a 30-hour work week is consistently maintained.
  • Eligible to participate in our 401(k) program with company match on the first of the month following two months of employment.
