Job Description We are seeking a Necropsy / Histology Technician to join our team. The selected candidate will begin with laboratory support for necropsy and histology, with a planned transition to the Prosector group after approximately 5-6 months based on training availability and performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in animal handling and laboratory support and the ability to execute routine laboratory tasks with accuracy, safety, and compliance.

Candidates must be comfortable with euthanasia and necropsy functions. Responsibilities: Set up before, support during, and clean up after necropsies. Provide necropsy and histology lab support, including changing solutions, printing slides/cassettes, operating staining equipment, weighing tissues, and preparing specimens for shipment.

Euthanize laboratory animals to support humane treatment protocols. Observe and record laboratory animal data such as weights and physical characteristics per standards. Measure and record facility and equipment data, including weights and temperatures, to ensure data integrity.

Contribute to timely, accurate production of histological slides for pathologist review; may include embedding, cutting, staining, and coverslipping based on workload and performance. Operate, clean, and maintain facilities and equipment per SOPs. Order, receive, decontaminate, and store equipment and consumables; maintain inventory and stock cabinets.

Prepare reagents and solutions; manage disposal of biological and chemical waste. Adhere to EPA regulations, protocols, SOPs, and Good Laboratory Practices. After approximately 5-6 months and based on workload, performance, and interest, evolve into performing routine and special rodent necropsies and/or routine and special histology procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree required. Animal Science preferred; Biology acceptable with animal experience. MS considered overqualified.

AS not qualified. HS diploma plus 5 years relevant experience acceptable. Recent graduates with school lab experience considered.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and operate within a regulatory environment. Team collaboration with professional communication; ability to recognize non-routine circumstances and seek guidance. Organization, prioritization, and completion of assignments to specification; delivery of high-quality work.

General chemistry, biology, and mathematics skills; computer proficiency and ability to learn validated systems. Willingness to handle laboratory animals and to perform euthanasia and necropsy functions. Preferred Skills: Rat and mouse handling experience.

Experience with slide staining equipment and histology workflows. Additional Details: Schedule: 40 hours per week, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Onsite only.

Non-local or remote candidates will not be considered. Interview: Onsite with facility tour. Resume review required.
