We are seeking a Hybrid Paralegal who is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and deeply committed to helping others. In this role, you will work side by side with an experienced personal injury team, helping to guide cases from intake through resolution while serving as a trusted resource for clients navigating challenging circumstances.

This is not a position for someone who simply wants to process paperwork. It is an opportunity to build a meaningful legal career with a respected local firm where your work directly impacts the lives of real people. Every document you prepare, every deadline you manage, and every client conversation you have contributes to helping someone find justice, accountability, and a path forward.

If you take pride in your work, thrive in a collaborative environment, and want to be part of a team that genuinely cares about its clients and one another, we would love to meet you.

WHY JOIN KILGORE & SMITH?

  • Make a Difference Every Day: The work you do here matters. Behind every case is a person or family whose life has been disrupted by injury, uncertainty, and loss. Your contributions will help clients find answers, accountability, and a path forward during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
  • Be Part of a Team That Has Your Back: We believe great results come from great teamwork. At Kilgore & Smith, attorneys and staff work together with trust, respect, and a shared commitment to serving clients at the highest level. Your voice will be heard, your contributions will be valued, and your success will be celebrated.
  • Build a Career, Not Just Hold a Job: We are invested in your long-term growth. You’ll have opportunities to expand your skills, learn new technologies, deepen your legal knowledge, and continue developing professionally alongside experienced attorneys who are committed to excellence.
  • Enjoy a Sustainable and Supportive Workplace: We believe exceptional legal work should not come at the expense of your well-being. We work hard, support one another, and intentionally foster a culture where professional success and personal balance can coexist.

Additional Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Exposure to innovative legal technology
  • Free parking
  • A close-knit team that genuinely cares about its people
Compensation:

$50,000 - $60,000 per year

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and organize electronic and physical client files with a high level of accuracy; ensure all records are current and easily accessible
  • Maintain attorney calendars, tracking critical deadlines, court dates, hearings, and depositions across multiple active cases
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other tools to support case development across motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, dog bites, and other PI areas
  • Assist attorneys in preparing trial binders, exhibits, discovery summaries, and evidence for hearings and trials
  • Handle document review, proofreading, and data entry to ensure accuracy and compliance with court requirements
  • Provide administrative support, including professional correspondence, filing, and coordination with court officials and opposing counsel

Qualifications:
  • Experience in Virginia personal injury litigation strongly preferred; paralegal experience or equivalent legal administrative background considered
  • Strong knowledge of Virginia court rules, e-filing procedures, and legal document formatting preferred
  • Research proficiency using LexisNexis and/or Westlaw, with the ability to synthesize complex legal information clearly
  • Experience with case management software such as Clio, MyCase, or SmartAdvocate; familiarity with legal AI tools (Eve, EvenUp, or similar) is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; comfort with adopting new legal technology is essential
