Behavioral Consultation Specialist
Prosperity Path Behavioral Health Agency (PPBHA)


Position Summary

Prosperity Path Behavioral Health Agency is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and experienced Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) to provide behavioral consultation services to individuals, families, direct support professionals, and interdisciplinary teams. The Behavioral Consultation Specialist will support the development and implementation of behavioral strategies, therapeutic interventions, crisis response planning, and staff education to improve client outcomes and quality of life.

This position works collaboratively with clinical leadership, care coordinators, community partners, and support staff to ensure trauma-informed, person-centered, and evidence-based behavioral health services are delivered in accordance with agency standards and state regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioral assessments and clinical evaluations for individuals receiving services.
  • Develop individualized behavioral support plans and therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide behavioral consultation to direct support staff, Qualified Professionals (QPs), families, and community stakeholders.
  • Monitor implementation of behavioral interventions and provide ongoing recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and case consultations.
  • Provide crisis intervention support and de-escalation guidance when necessary.
  • Train and educate staff on behavioral health topics, trauma-informed care, crisis prevention, communication techniques, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Ensure all services comply with state, federal, Medicaid, and agency guidelines.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, medical providers, schools, and community agencies as appropriate.
  • Assist with quality assurance initiatives and program development.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in accordance with professional licensing boards.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related behavioral health field.
  • Active North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Experience developing behavioral support plans and providing behavioral consultation services.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and person-centered planning.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses, intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD), or co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience providing staff training and supervision.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid service requirements and documentation standards.
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

  • Ability to travel to client homes, community settings, and agency locations as needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and use office equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations.
