Technical Project Manager (Product Management Background) AI Platform & Patent Intelligence Location: Austin, TX / Remote (Within the US, India, or Latam) Experience: 6 10 Years Employment: 6+ months Contract
Introduction
We are seeking a Technical Project Manager with a strong Product Management background to drive the successful execution of our AI-powered Patent Intelligence platform. This role will collaborate closely with Engineering, AI/ML, IT, Sales, Marketing, and Patent/IP stakeholders to plan, coordinate, and deliver innovative product capabilities. The ideal candidate has experience managing software products, working in Agile environments, and understands patent, intellectual property (IP), or legal technology workflows.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct people management or budget ownership.
Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end execution of product development projects, ensuring timely delivery and high quality.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, AI/ML, IT, Sales, Marketing, QA, and Product.
Translate business requirements into user stories, functional requirements, and project plans.
Manage project schedules, sprint planning, backlog refinement, releases, risks, and dependencies.
Collaborate with Product leadership to execute the product roadmap and support feature prioritization.
Partner with Patent Attorneys, IP professionals, and customers to gather requirements and validate workflows.
Coordinate delivery of AI-driven capabilities including patent search, portfolio analysis, document processing, claim chart generation, and analytics.
Monitor project progress, communicate status to stakeholders, and drive continuous process improvements.
Qualifications Must Have
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
6 10 years of experience in Technical Project Management, Product Management, or Software Delivery.
Prior experience working as a Product Manager.
Experience managing Agile software development projects and cross-functional teams.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
Experience collaborating with Engineering, AI/ML, IT, Sales, and Marketing teams.
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar project management tools.
Good to Have
Experience in Patent Management, Intellectual Property (IP), Legal Technology, or Patent Analytics.
Experience working with Patent Attorneys, IP Law Firms, or Patent Lifecycle Management solutions.
Exposure to AI/ML, Generative AI, semantic search, or knowledge management platforms.
Experience working with enterprise SaaS products and distributed teams.
